Shenmue was to be the first of a yet-to-be-finished trilogy by director/writer Yu Zuzuki.
Originally designed for the predecessor of the Dreamcast, the Sega Saturn, Shenmue eventually evolved into a launch title for the Dreamcast.
Shenmue showcased the Dreamcast’s power by featuring an expansive open world to explore, with rich 3D environments and characters, as well as a time passage system wherein different people and events became available at certain times of the day, giving the city a population that truly felt alive.
Most awesomely, it featured and arcade where you could play some of Sega’s classic cabinets.
