In an interview with Japan’s Asahi Shimbum today, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata confirmed that the Wii’s new Zelda sequel will release by the end of 2010. Whether that 2010 release applies outside of Japan is unclear.
The Wii Zelda sequel is said to feature a Link sans his sword, with the only piece of official art showing a weaponless Link standing with a sheild:
Series forefather Shigeru Miyamoto has stressed the importance of Link’s lack of weaponry, hinting that perhaps the creature beside Link is some incarnation of the master sword.
The sequel will also implement the Wii’s updated motion sensing hardware, Wii MotionPlus.
The Wii Vitality Sensor, a new peripheral that computes a player’s vitals signs, will be further detailed in a July press conference by Nintedno.
Perhaps we will learn more of the Wii’s Zelda sequel and its possible integration with the Vitality Season come summer.
