If there’s a band out there that deserves to be recognized alongside the Ramones as forerunners to the NYC punk rock scene, it’s Television.

While their minimalist counterparts the Ramones favored the “lets play these three chords over and over again” approach, Television took a more nuanced approach, layering guitar riffs and melodies to create dualistic tunes dispatched by guitarists Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd.
